Running 13 hours behind schedule, Amtrak train 3, the westbound "Southwest Chief," finally makes its 5:42 am stop in San Bernardino, California, at 6:49 pm on July 13, 2019. The two BNSF diesels were added in Kansas City two days earlier. Recent changes to the Metrolink portion of this station resulted in the large stair/elevator structures to enable passengers to cross the tracks on the pedestrian walkway. Unfortunately, this has obscured the view of the beautiful and historic former Santa Fe passenger station, built in the Mission Revival Style (with Moorish Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival features) and opened in 1918.
