| The PRR railroad was once a mainstay in the Altoona area with their vast array of locomotive and machine shops. The machine shops extended west beyond 12th street in town and included the building in the background in this image. Now owned by Altoona Pipe and Steel, the former PRR erecting shop still stands tall as a parade of modern day NS trains cruises by. NS 35A heads west out of Altoona and past the former machine shop and several collection pieces from the Altoona Railroaders Museum. |
