Remarks & Notes
A train of empty hoppers departs the Conrail yard in Reading, Pennsylvania. This is Belt Line Junction, so named for the point where the Reading Belt Line, seen to the right, diverged from the main line through the yard in downtown Reading. The Belt Line crossed the Schuylkill River, allowing trains between Allentown, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg to avoid the congestion of going through town.
