In the cavernous confines of Canadian National's Woodcrest Shops, Illinois Central SD70 1017 blends in with the interior darkness of the truck and traction motor department. Built by EMD in October 1995, IC 1017 still wears its original black paint job (although the Scotchliteâ„¢ striping on the sill has been changed from white to yellow). At some point in the future, this engine will receive a new paint job and be a bit brighter in Canadian National's red, black and light gray paint scheme, although it will retain its "IC" reporting mark. This engine's paint has lasted twenty-three years, and twenty-years after the CN acquired the IC in 1998.
