Canadian National Train #571 lifts its tonnage of empty freight cars up Pavilion Mountain. The train is on a 2.2% ascending grade. The terrain the ex BC Rail crosses in the first 300 miles from North Vancouver is truly unbelievable... Ocean Running, Rain Forest, Alpine, Lake Side, and Desert, not to mention 3 major mountain summits... Not sure too many railroads could be said to have done all that in such a short distance.
