An Olympic Under the Stars. Stuck in the siding at Millhouse around 9:45 p.m., UP 2002 and a plentiful amount of power rest under a star filled, summer night sky as they wait for their chance to head north. This train was primed and ready to to depart Gemco almost seven hours earlier in the day but was today to hold tight due to trains flagging signals to transfer between Union Pacific and Metrolink trackage. Once the train was finally allowed to depart some three hours later, it was first put in the hole at Davis followed by coming to a stop here at Millhouse. It wouldn't be until the passage of both Amtrak's 796 and 11 that the 2002's train would get back on the move...dying either at Oxnard or shortly thereafter. The final part of the train's journey, all the way up to Guadalupe, would not be completed until the following day when it also returns south to Gemco.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
