There are times when you can’t plan for certain aspects of a shot, but you can take advantage of a developing situation. Such was the case on August 15, after several severe storms blew through the Olean, NY, area, setting up for a rather dramatic sunset by the Western New York & Pennsylvania RR enginehouse. With a quick jump to action and activation of the lighting equipment, all the pieces came together nicely for a couple dramatic images. The RC-1 job’s 406, the OL-1 job’s 431, and unassigned 630 all are idle at the enginehouse for the night as the sunset provides unbelievable color.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
