| "Market Local at Rocking the Boat"
The daily CSX Hunts Point Market Local shoves east through the sidewalk of "Rocking the Boat" not long after splitting from the Northeast Corridor. "Rocking the Boat" is a non-profit organization launched in 1996 that engages over 200 teens per year in a series of STEM-based programs that last throughout their high school careers and into college. This is the last of 4 properties the train must pass through in order to get to the line's only customer, the Hunts Point Cooperative Market. What's unique about this line is that when train enters the branch, it must hold to allow workers to clear the tracks of any equipment and debris before proceeding down the rest of the line. The second the train clears, all 4 business continue their work until the train comes back out again. |
