Remarks & Notes |
One of the gems in the collection of the Colorado Railroad Museum is the Denver & Rio Grande Western 346, a 2-8-0 locomotive built built by Baldwin in 1881 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1935 it was leased to the Colorado and Southern Railroad and was damaged in a wreck in 1936 at Kenosha Pass which killed its engineer. It was rebuilt by the CB&Q shops in Denver and returned to D&RGW in 1937. In 1947 it was sold to a lumber company and then purchased by a private owner in 1950. It first ran at the Colorado Railroad Museum in 1962. |
