| Amtrak 14 approaches the south end of Woodford siding as it makes its way across the 4th crossing of the Tehachapi Creek riverbed on a warm, summer's afternoon. On days like this it's hard to imagine how different Woodford was some 87 years ago on September 30, 1932, when a deadly flood swept down the pass - taking multiple lives and toppling 200 ton steam locomotives into the raging waters. |
