After passing through Summit, on BNSF’s Cajon Sub, Union Pacific train P-YRWC-09 crosses over to the UP’s Mojave Sub at Silverwood. This train, powered by UP 4-8-8-4 4014, marked the first time a “Big Boy” steam locomotive has operated in California, having crossed the state line from Nevada the previous day.
