BNSF Railway’s Barstow to San Diego train passes through the lower narrows of the Mojave River, which features a stark rock environment and a pair of through truss bridges over the river. Train H-BARSDG8-13 is powered by ES44DCs 7737, 7730 and 7701 (with 7729 on the rear) – the 7700s are typical power on the non-intermodal trains heading west out of Barstow to San Diego, UP’s West Colton Yard, Kaiser (Fontana), Hobart Yard (the Los Angeles Junction Railroad) and Watson (Wilmington). This engineer will take her train to San Bernardino, at which point a new crew will continue the run along the Pacific Ocean to San Diego. (Victorville, California - October 13, 2019)
