Shipping south. SEPTA cars 482-483 (ex-Chicago Transit Authority, 6089-6090) have been sitting on the property out of service since the arrival and acceptance of the ABB built N5 series for the Norristown High Speed Line. These cars were purchased as a stopgap measure to bridge the retirement of the Brill built "Bullets" and "Straffords" until the N5s were accepted. The 720 of the cars built by the St. Louis Car Company served in Chicago for over 40 years before six sets were purchased by SEPTA. It was arranged for this pair, the final of its kind on the property, to be donated to the Craggy Mountain Line in Asheville, North Carolina with the assistance of the Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys. On the night of Saturday, October 19, 2019, they sit in the parking lot of the Dekalb (formerly Kings Manor) Station, ready to be loaded on to trailers for the 600 mile trip to their new home.
