An experience that took me back to my Calmar, IA, days at the IC&E...this southbound extra Belle Fourche job is down on their knees as they make the climb out of Sturgis. These 3 SD40-2's were pounding the earth as they fight gravity working their way south with 68 loads. The extra job was called at 3 am at Rapid City and cabbed to Colony to finish the work and make the 73 mile trek to Rapid City, barely making it in 12 hours. After this, I was happily reminded what it sounds like to see old school power still making a living on a shortline!
