Engineer and Former-CMO takes charge of Grand Canyon Railway #29 as she steams towards Williams over this small bridge north of Williams.
As we prepared for the photo here at this trestle, the lyrics to David Bowie/Nirvana's "The Man Who Sold The World" came to me, as I now stood in nearly the same spot I did as I had started my railroad career back over thirteen years ago. The day before my job interview in Williams, I managed to snap the 29 in the same location (The Very Photo on RailPictures )
While my career is still going, albeit a couple railroads removed from here, the 29's future is much cloudier. A few hours after I snapped this photo, the fire was dropped in the 29 for the last time as her flue time has now expired, and she was probably on display in front of the Williams Depot before I even hit my exile in
Albuquerque. Will she run again? That is up to the powers that be at the Xantera Corporate Offices in Denver.
