Remarks & Notes
It's a beautiful, fall day in the northern half of the Central Valley as UP 8754 leads its train off the Canyon Subdivision and onto the Valley Subdivision as it enters the town of Marysville at sunset. The name Marysville was established for the small, Yuba County community in early 1850 and by 1857 the town was bustling with activity, particularly as more than $10 million in gold traveled through on its way to San Francisco. Seen at the center, far left of this image partially cut out, is Binney Junction - a strategic meeting point of multiple lines for today's Union Pacific operations.
