A family, all bundled up for the wet, cold weather, smiles for a quick cell phone photo taken by a kind Metrolink security guard with the backdrop of Fillmore & Western Railway No. 14. A 1913-built product of the Baldwin Locomotive Works, No. 14 was delivered to the Duluth & Northeastern Railroad that same year and served on numerous shortlines before coming into the hands of the FWRY in 1999. On the rear of tonight's train is business car FWRY No. 409. Delivered to the Santa Fe Railway as a Superintendent's car, No. 409 has gone from carrying member of the Santa Fe's brass to being used for special occasions like this evening's run of the "Spirit of Christmas" train.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
