It might surprise some to find that to get to The Grand Canyon, the journey is anything but flat. The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway found this out when they built their Grand Canyon Branch in 1901. To finish the ascent of the Kaibab Plateau which the Colorado River cuts through, the surveyors utilized the sinuous ancient waterway of Coconino Canyon and Bright Angel Fault to reach the summit of the line, The South Rim.
Here we find Grand Canyon Railway 29 on her final run from the Canyon, at least until the 1472 day inspection is funded. A Date in the future unknown.
