Fronted by a lone veteran EMD SD70MAC, 15,000+ tons of fresh Bakken crude on oil train U TNDCXZ0 89T flow eastward past the eclectic colonial barn-style Metra station at Fairview Ave in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove. The trailing 107 loaded tanks originated in the oil rich fields of North Dakota at a loop track loadout facility south of Trenton, and upon arrival at Cicero, the train will be interchanged off to the CSXT for a trip to its destination of an east coast oil refinery. The cross-overs here at Fairview were a hot piece of rail this particular morning as the dispatcher was routing eastbound trains from main two to main three, such as the case with this one, to avoid a maintenance window on the second main between Highlands and Congress Park. This location, in August of 1991, is where the famous YouTube video incident of a 41-year old women getting struck and killed by a westbound Metra express train happened when she attempted to walk in-front of an already stopped train at the station, not realizing another one was fast approaching alongside.
