Back in the Milwaukee Road days, Montevideo was a crew change point between the Twin Cities and Aberdeen.
The section was purchased by a new railroad in the early 90's, the Twin Cities & Western.
The Heritage Center does a great job if keeping the Milwaukee Road legacy alive with a nice fleet of equipment, and annual festivities.
The overpass in the background is actually built on part of the Roundhouse foundation.
The TCW still uses Monte as a crew point, and use it daily. Today, a pair of GP38-2's bring 25 loads of grain eastward. They'll make a pickup in town here before continuing east.
