After sitting a mile east of Mahomet since yesterday afternoon, the D41 got a crew this morning and began making their way into town. They highballed their work at The Andersons due to a grain train in the way and worked at Plastipak for a few hours. That left me sitting and waiting in a hospital parking lot for two hours, unsure of when their work at Plastipak would be finished. Finally, the tones rang up over the radio, with them asking permission across the CN diamond to go east. A couple of what seemed like long minutes later and they finally reached my location.
In the photo, an increasingly rare NS "high hood" GP38-2 passes by a very uncommon semaphore distant signal in Urbana, moments before finishing up their work for today.
