Remarks & Notes |
Lake Superior Terminal and Transfer NW2 100 resting at the Terminal's main yard in Superior May 1973. The LST&T rostered six EMD switchers with 5 NW2s and an SW1200. Only three of the Terminal's six switchers had MU capabilities, NW2's 103 and 104 and SW1200 105. Two switchers were usually always needed on the Tower Bay and Connors Point jobs because of heavy tonnage coming from the Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association Elevators and a bit of a grade coming back up from the harbor front. The Terminal was owned 2/3 by the BN after March 1970 and a 1/3 was split between CNW and Soo Line. On January 1, 1986 the LST&T was fully absorbed into the Burlington Northern and all the Terminal's switch jobs became BN switch jobs. Paul Hunnell Photo from my collection. |
