Remarks & Notes
BNSF 8376 slows its train to about 40 mph in order to cross over in front of engine 4051, parked on the point of a vehicle train at Bay City. The West Coast of Wisconsin provides some of the state's most intense railroading given that BNSF's former Burlington speedway hugs the length of the state from Prescott to East Dubuque, IL. The mostly double track route, now CTC equipped dispatches trains on whatever track is available, and can set up priority on the fly by doing takeovers as shown here. BNSF 8376 will cross back over in a few yards, and get out of the way of an already stopped eastbound oil train just beyond the interlocking. Quite a difference between this and the Minnesota side which features CP running on the old Milwaukee. Under CP/SOO management, the double track got reduced to single track CTC, and the population centers and curves along the route keep things running a a slower pace, especially south of La Crescent, MN into Iowa.
