Remarks & Notes
Cotton Belt GP40-2 No. 7254 and Southern Pacific GP40M-2 No. 7124 power a short three-car Malta local that has just departed Malta, Colorado, under a towering 14,421-foot tall Mount Massive, still covered with winter snow on April 23, 1998. This local operated once-a-week from Pueblo and hauled ore in gondolas from Malta to Pueblo after Tennessee Pass was closed as a through route by Union Pacific on August 23, 1997, until its last run on March 9, 1999.
