Skirting the Pacific Ocean, Amtrak train 572 is living up to its Pacific Surfliner name as it skirts the beach along the expensive real estate of the Del Mar Bluffs. Amtrak P42DC 172, a June 2001 General Electric product, is in charge of this 6-car train (which includes a Superliner lounge, not usually common on these trains) as it nears San Diego, having originated in Los Angeles. Stretching from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, the Surf Line has become Amtrak's second busiest route. See the Pacific Surfliner and San Diegan in action along with trains from predecessors Santa Fe and Southern Pacific.
