Rock Island 3 is one of three Aerotrain sets built by General Motors in the mid-1950s. This particular (partial) set is on display at the National Transportation Museum in St. Louis, Missouri. EMDX demonstrator 1000 was built in August 1955, these three trainsets toured the country before ending up in service on the Pennsylvania Railroad, New York Central, Santa Fe, Union Pacific and, finally, the Rock Island. The LWT12 power car, and two bus-body coaches, are on display, as seen on October 2, 2014.
