Remarks & Notes |
Approaching the old town site of Boca, westbound Union Pacific No. 7652 pulls a manifest up the east slope of the hill to Donner Pass from Reno Nv. Boca was a lumber town that supplied lumber for the building of the Central Pacific in the race to build the Transcontinental Railroad. Ice blocks in winter were also produced, along with beer from the Famous Boca Brewery. The first snowfall in quite awhile in the Sierras has fallen overnight and lingers into the afternoon. The snow pack in the Sierras is about half of normal this year. |
