Since a few days, Switzerland has a "Heritage paint scheme locomotive", the Re 421 # 393 (or Re 4/4 II 11393) of the IRSI (International Rolling Stock Investment Gmbh) in Frauenfeld. The locomotive was built in 1985 for the SBB as Re 4/4 II # 11393 and was rebuilt in 2004 as Re 421 # 393 for SBB Cargo with certification to run in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. In september 2019 the locomotive (together with Re 421 # 387) was sold to the IRSI for the sugar beet traffic of the TR Trans Rail railway company, and is now revised and painted in TRANS EUROP EXPRESS "reminiscence" paint scheme. In 1969, the 4 Re 4/4 II # 11158 to # 11161 were delivered to the SBB in this claret/cream TEE paint scheme for pulling the TEE trains (Trans Europ Express) "Helvetia" between Basel and Zürich and the "Roland" between Basel and Chiasso and vice versa. In 1972 another 5 Re 4/4 II # 11249 to # 11253 were delivered in this paint scheme for pulling the TEE "Lemano" between Domodossola and Geneva and the "Cisalpin" between Vallorbe and Domodossola and vice versa. After the discontinuation of the TEE trains in the early 1980', this 9 locomotives lost their special paint scheme and 6 are now running in red, # 11160 as Re 420 # 160 in the blue/red Cargo paint scheme, # 11161 as Re 420 # 161 in green (last in green of the passenger division) and # 11253 as Re 420 # 253 in the red/blue Cargo paint scheme also. The Re 421 # 393 (Re 4/4 II # 11393) of the IRSI in the "Heritage TEE" paint scheme will mainly run for the TR Trans Rail railway for charter, transfer and special trains, including freights. This day it was used for the transfer of a tamper machine from Thun freight yard to Basel.
