| It is late December 2015 and Tehachapi's rolling foothills have already began to take on a nice shade of green, foreshadowing the fantastic spring colors to come in 2016. Through the cool of that early winter morning the labored roar of eastbound tonnage fills the foothills as morning clouds begin to give way to sunlight. Finding one of the sun pockets is the train's lead motor, a then nearly new UP ET45AH #2600, which at the time was one of one-hundred (2570-2669) 'tier-IV' GEVOs assigned to the I-5 power pool. |
