Remarks & Notes |
"CTrail at Quarry Junction"
Southbound CTrail train 4463 prepares to duck under the Meriden Waterbury & Connecticut River Railroad trestle at "Quarry Junction" just before entering downtown Meriden, Connecticut. Constructed in 1888, the trestle carried trains over the NYNH&H Mainline (now Amtrak's MRS Line) to/from the Suzio/York Hill Quarry just east of Meriden. The line was abandoned around 1960 but much of it between the here and the quarry remains intact for possible (most likely never) future use. The MRS Line had a controlled interlocking ("QUARRY") to access this branch just north of this location. It has since been removed.
