"CTrail at Carling Tool and Machine Co."
Southbound CTrail train 4461 rounds the curve past the old Carling Tool and Machine Company headquarters on it's way out of Hartford, Connecticut. The Carling Tool and Machine Co was established by Arthur Carling on February 16, 1920 and is known for creating many tools, dies and special machinery. After 10 years of successful business the company moved to the building you see here. Upon moving into this location Carling began engineering and manufacturing electrical switches and other similar products to supplement the emerging electrical industry of the 1940s. Huge success caused the company to move from this location in 1950 to a much bigger building in West Hartford. Fast forward to today; Carling Tool and Machine Company is now Carling Technologies, sporting 6 ISO9001 and IATF 16949 registered manufacturing facilities and technical sales offices at several locations around the world. Carling ranks among the world's largest manufacturers of circuit breakers, switches, power distribution units, digital switching systems and electronic controls. They're headquarters is now located in Plainville, CT and the original building in this photo is now a records storage facility.
