Remarks & Notes
A boat tour of the Duluth-Superior harbor includes a cruise past the former DM&IR Dock 6, now operated by Canadian National Railway. This is the end of the line for much of the iron ore handled from the Missabe Iron Range. Ore cars can be unloaded on 4 tracks on top of the dock, with the option of loading pockets for direct delivery to boats, like the American Spirit shown here. Or, the taconite pellets can be stockpiled as shown on the right for later shipment. Ore trains must descend Proctor Hill seen in the background to reach the dock.
