Due to PTC upgrades and equipment shortages, NJT adjusted services on many lines. Service on the Atlantic City Line was suspended due to equipment needing to be used elsewhere. At the same time, trains on the Raritan Valley Line no longer went into New York Penn Station. Thus, more diesel-only locomotives could be assigned to Raritan again. While there wasn't a dramatic uptick in diesel-only engines in Raritan, there were a few trains that again featured some old favorites on the west ends of consists. Here a Geep leads a somewhat unusual 5-car consist west to Raritan. NJT 6048 is the cab car on the east end. The leader is ex-LN 3026 (which also was later rebuilt from NJT 4148 following a wreck).
