Remarks & Notes |
Identity Crisis: One of the stranger public relation stunts that New Jersey Transit did was the borrowing of MARC passenger cars from Maryland. With many cab cars out of service at the time for PTC upgrades, many NJT consists were somewhat shorter throughout the entire NJT rail network. This resulted in engines being utilized in place of cab cars (as is seen here with NJT 4217; ex-PC 3218). Because complaints from passengers were being made about the lack of room on board trains, NJT borrowed MARC passenger cars to show that they were doing something. In the end, these cars were only used for about a month on New Jersey Transit's Raritan Valley Line (also seen here) for 1 eastbound rush-hour train east and 1 westbound rush-hour train west. |
