You can hear the high wine of the turbo charger on this 41 year old SD40-2 as it lead the 103 cars loaded coke train CSX W221-10 (Proviso,IL-East Savannah,GA) south through Sherwood, Tn on the CSX Chattanooga Sub. The train is heading to Savanna where it will then go north to Georgia-Pacific's Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA home of five of the world's 12 largest paper machine. The coke will be use at their power plant to generate steam for the process to make tissue paper products. In the post E. Hunter Harrison world of Precision Scheduled Railroading it's hard to believe that the SD40-2 class is still being put to good use on CSX. As most of the class are assigning the 40 to 50 year old SD40-2's to yard work, MOW service or retirement, CSX still uses them as a power of choice on road freights. As they say enjoy them while it last.
Pace and pan shots of trains from on the ground or in the air. If you're not in the locomotive cab or on-board the train, it's the next best thing to being there.
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
