2839 was one of the last locomotives in service with Toll "corn cob" livery. Built in 1978 by General Electric USA, these locomotives are used for shunting and port transfer trains. Toll operated trains from 2003 to 2008 when the NZ Government bought back the rail business and vested it in KiwiRail. The train to Auckland Port enters Purewa tunnel. |
