Remarks & Notes
The evening of Jan 22, 1978 CN 414 was stopped in the siding at Tansley. About 2120 hours, an emergency call went out from the crew, who fled for their lives "We've been hit head-on. We're covered with oil". CN train 415 derailed at the switch in front of them and 415's train collided with the stopped Extra 2004 East, piling up 23 cars. The crew survived realizing it wasn't oil but, in fact, molasses. The 2004 was rebuilt and later retired. Miraculously, no one was hurt.
