Making a rather odd appearance beneath the Colton flyover, UP 1111 leads an engineering special off the BNSF San Bernardino Subdivision and onto the Union Pacific Yuma Subdivision. The unusual routing of this train started back up at the summit of Cajon Pass when Union Pacific maintenance of way crews had track and time between Silverwood and Canyon during the time this train would pass through. The BNSF Cajon Sub dispatcher decided to send this train down Main 3, unfortunately meaning for those riding onboard and chasing alongside that it would not utilize Sullivan's Curve. It was thought that since the train did not cross onto the UP at Silverwood, it certainly would at Keenbrook for the final miles into West Colton. Wrong! After setting up at the bridge the crosses I-210, I heard this train would be remaining on BNSF all the way into Colton...resulting in me busting over to the flyover to park and get out just in time to catch it snaking underneath.
