| Milwaukee Road GP20M 982 at Rices Point Yard in Duluth MN April 1971. This unit was built as MILW GP9 2400 in January 1954 and rebuilt into this "GP20" in February 1970. It was eventually scrapped by Precision National in June 1983. The first batch of these Milwaukee rebuilds from 1969/70 had the number boards built into the chopped nose. All subsequent GP9 rebuilds had the number boards above the windshield. Milwaukee Road was a regular tenant of Duluth's Rices Point Yard during the NP days up until the Milwaukee was absorbed into the Soo Line. Robert C. Anderson Photo from my Collection. |
