Remarks & Notes |
Just two and a half months ago before lock-down we said farewell to the last un-refurbished original Eurostar set Nos 373 214/223. On May 19/20 the sets made a test run from Brussels Midi to London St.Pancras except with No 373 223 replaced by refurbished spare power car No 373 999 in order to test a new Belgian signalling system TBL+1 (see my previous post). Yesterday another test run was made from Brussels but only to Ebbsfleet International and thence to Westenhanger Crossover before running back to St.Pancras except that the train was terminated at Ebbsfleet before it dashed back to Brussels. The hybrid train had been turned with the spare power car 373 999 leading just beyond the Lenham loops forming the 13.45 test train from Westenhanger Crossover to London St.Pancras.
Although the Eurostar sets are class 373 and 374 in the old BR TOPS system they only carry the final four digits to conform with the numbering of TGV and Thalys sets. They also continue the old BR Southern Region practice in only showing the last four digits when the TOPS scheme came in thus EMU No 455 707 only carried the number 5707 for example. |
