It was a beautiful late-Spring day in southern California … until some eastern interlopers arrived to smoke it up! Rolling down Main 2 from Fullerton Junction, BNSF Railway train Q-AUGLAC6-03L approaches the Fullerton Transportation Center, just minutes after Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 785 has departed. The intermodal train, heading from Austell, Georgia, to Los Angeles, had to wait in eastern Fullerton for a short time to allow Amtrak 785 to cross from Main 3 (which connects San Diego with BNSF’s Transcon) to Main 1 to make its station stop. The afternoon continues to be busy, however, as the headlight of Amtrak 4, the eastbound Southwest Chief, can be seen on Main 3, having just met Amtrak 785 and about to meet Norfolk Southern Dash 9-44CWs 9428 and 9932 on the point of this BNSF train.
