Remarks & Notes |
A southbound oil train rumbles along the CN Rainy main just south of Virginia, MN. This area from the signal to about where the rear of the train is was where the old DMIR would interchange with CN. There used to be two other tracks here for picking up and dropping off cars and this was also the final stop for many DMIR engines after they were retired by CN and moved off the Iron Range in their maroon and yellow paint scheme. Some would return in CN paint and continue working while some where never to be heard or seen again. All of the interchange now happens a few miles from here at Keenan yard and the tracks or any evidence of what was here is gone. |
