Remarks & Notes |
CBQ 5629 (4-8-4) was built in 1940 at the Burlington shops in Iowa and was one of 15 engines of its class designed for fast freight and passenger service. Notice the attempt to streamline the nose. In the 1940’s it made runs between Chicago and Denver and in the 1950’s it ran freight between Denver and Alliance, Nebraska. It remained in service until 1963, when it was purchased by the Intermountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and moved to the Colorado Railroad Museum. No. 5629 is one of only four Burlington locomotives of its type still in existence. |
