Transfer Job NS TC34 is making its way out of the west-thoroughfare and is heading to the forward yard to pick up its train. TC34 is a daily transfer job that makes a run to CSX Wauhatchie Yard earning the name “Southern Delivery” by us CSX guys. Once the power is on its train, the crew will complete a brake test, and proceed to Wauhatchie Yard. In the era of safety cab locomotives, and advanced technology, one of the prefect examples of a locomotives that has stood the test of time is the SD40-2s, one of the few successful products that’s been produced by EMD. What would’ve been the locomotive of choice to be used on mainline service full time not too long ago, has now been placed in other duties on most class 1 railroads. With most of the SD40-2s pushing half a century old you most definitely see them around, and it’s also becoming a product of choice on class 2 railroads.
