A regional train La Spezia Centrale - Levanto just departed from Vernazza, one of the UNESCO World Heritage listed "Cinque Terre" villages. The station is located in a tunnel.
The opening of the railroad line Pisa - Genua in 1874 ended the isolation of these villages on the Eastern Italian Riviera.
