While out shooting the Reading Company sesquicentennial Reading – Philadelphia excursion trip, a friend and I tried to time our arrival at Flat Rock tunnel just ahead of the train. We arrived to find a long line of cars parked on the shoulder of the Schuylkill Expressway. Most fans were shooting the location from the dark side, but about a dozen were on different members of an electrical transmission tower like the one seen above the tunnel. As we got to the tower, a state trooper showed up, trying to figure out what to do with this impromptu gathering. As he started ordering everyone back to their cars, the train showed up, and the crowd scattered to their cars, leaving the trooper with nothing to do but drive off and control the speed of the chasers.
