On the Swiss National Day, two "oldtimers" of the Rhaetian Railways, still in regular service, are meeting in Valendas-Sagogn in the Ruinaulta. Ge 4/4 I # 602 "Bernina", built in 1947 and oldest operational of the series, is pulling the Ruinaulta adventure train RE 1734 from Ilanz to Chur and stopped on track 1 for the crossing. Ge 6/6 II # 702 "Curia" from 1958, now the oldest operational of the series (# 701 is stabled since a few days after a damage), is pulling the PE 903 GLACIER EXPRESS St.Moritz-Zermatt on the section between Chur and Disentis. Locomotive Ge 4/4 I # 602 derailed later the same day, after 4 PM, with train RE 1758 between Valendas and Versam when running in a mudslide. No casualties and only few damage, fortunately.
