Despite their seemingly growing presence on the Southern Transcon (this is at least the 4th instance in 2020 alone), warbonnets are still a popular item for SoCal railfans, especially if one leads. Case in point, all eyes were on the progress of BNSF 4701 as it made its way west from Texas (first time it hit the radars in SoCal). 4701's initial train terminated in NM (likely Clovis) before being put on the head of the Q CHISTO6 29L all the way to Barstow. A two-in-one 12,700-foot monster, the 'mega-stack' would split up upon arriving at Barstow, with 4701 taking the front half south to LA in the middle of the night as Q BARLAC2 01A.
