In October 2002 the time had finally come: I was able to say goodbye to analog photography with films that were lost in the laboratory, spoiled or scratched during development: I bought a digital single-lens reflex camera with an unbelievable 6 MP, a Nikon D100.
In February 2003 the dearly desired opportunity arose to use this camera for the first time at a Plandampf event, equipped with an IBM MicroDrive hard disk in Compact Flash format, capacity 1 GB. Contrary to expectations, the camera's battery even survived the minus 20 degrees that prevailed on the morning of the first day of "winter steam on the Rennsteig". Due to this cold winter, a stable ice surface was created on the flooded meadows near Unterrohn, which was used by some children to go sledding on 02/14/2003, while the 44 1486-8 with DNG 83852 made its way from Bad Salzungen on time to Eisenach.
