An empty BNSF coal train crosses Union Pacific’s massive bridge at Joso, Washington, on September 21, 2015. These BNSF coal trains use UP’s Ayer Subdivision (the Washy) out of Spokane to the power plant at Boardman, Oregon. Unfortunately, I believe the plan still is to shut the power plant down by the end of 2020. The track below is the Great Northwest Railroad (Watco) that operates this former UP branch out of Ayer Junction.
